Nd:YAG Laser Turbinate Surgery Animal Experimental Study: Preliminary Report
1995
ABSTRACT The chronically hypertrophie nasal turbinate is a challenging problem for the otolaryngologist. Although some success has been achieved with a number of medical and surgical methods, other forms of therapy are still needed. The authors present their experience with the Nd:YAG laser on canine turbinates with encouraging results. Clinical and histological results show that coagulation occurs in the deep cavernous vessels and submucosal glands of the turbinate, while leaving the overlying mucosa intact.
