The cement Temara: needs a new deposit of limestone (case the deposit of oued Cherrat) La cimenterie de Temara : besoins d'un nouveau gisement de calcaires (cas du gisement de l'oued Cherrat)

2012
During recent years, Asment Temara had recourse only to the former limestone quarry (Asment) for the manufacture of its cement, which it uses about 80%. However, with the evolution of the quarry exploitation, the average content of CaO dropped; the use of riddle at the primary crusher has led to increased consumption of limestone. Between 14 to 20% of the raw material is rejected for eliminate particle size fractions of less than 10mm and which are rich in SiO2. This situation has reduce the life of the quarry, which oblige Asment Temara to search a new limestone quarry. This search has proved fruitful with the discovery of a new field which is oued Cherrat. The detailed study of this field has enabled us to distinguish three main lithologies: francs limestone, dolomitic limestones and transitional facies (calcareous shale interbeds). The data from surveys and surface mapping allowed us to estimate the aggregate reserves of this deposit, which are of the order of 22712213 million tonnes. All mixtures produced during this work leads us to infer that it is necessary to use the limestone of oued Cherrat for prolong the life of the career of Asment Temara, and from there meet market needs.
