The invention provides an illumination driver compatible with a ballast, and a light emitting diode comprising the same. The invention discloses a device. The device comprises a transparent cover, a casing used for forming a first compartment with the transparent cover, one or more light emitting diodes arranged inside the first compartment, and an illumination driver module which is arranged inside the first compartment and is electrically coupled to the one or more light emitting diodes, wherein the illumination driver module comprises a rectifier used for converting AC signals into DC signals; a current sensor for measuring currents supplied to the one or more light emitting diodes and providing information related to the measured currents; and a first switch apparatus which is electrically coupled to the rectifier and the one or more light emitting diodes and can be controlled by a controller so as to interrupt or allow transmission of the DC signals to the one or more light emitting diodes on the basis of the information provided by the current sensor.
