Resource Request Strategies for Dynamic Resource Allocation in a Satellite Network
2007
Dynamic resource allocation algorithms to efficiently utilize limited RF uplink and downlink resources have been designed for packet switched military satellite communication networks. In systems using these algorithms, terminals request resources from the satellite based on their actual traffic demands and traffic priority. The satellite resource allocation algorithm assigns available resources among the multiple terminals. There are many strategies for requesting uplink resources for each terminal. We compare three resource request strategies that tradeoff delay and utilization performance.
