ANALYSIS OF RULES FOR ATTESTATION AND ACCOUNTING OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY - PLOVDIV AND POSSIBILITIES FOR AUTOMATIZATION OF THE PROCESSES

2019
Reporting and storage of research activity (RA) is a task that every researcher at the University is engaged in. At the Medical University - Plovdiv (MU - Plovdiv) this process is regulated by the rules for the organization and activity of the University. Each work is stored on paper. Periodically, the same activities with the same content are reported. Considering the functionality of modern information technology, this approach of storing and reporting activities is morally outdated. Data from the archive are periodically taken and recorded in an attestation sheet, which is reported to the Attestation Committee (CA). Aims: Analysis of the data from the Rules for the Structure and Activity of MU-Plovdiv and possibilities for automation of the processes for attestation and reporting of RA by creating a web-based platform. Material and methods. The “Rules for attestation of the academic staff at the Medical University - Plovdiv” were used to record information about the activities of the CA and the duties of the researchers. Results: The data from the Rules for the Structure and Activity of MU-Plovdiv were analyzed and on the basis of them a descriptive model was proposed for creating a web-based information system reflecting the research activity of doctoral students and post-doctoral students. The proposed model database contains user profiles that store information about the members of the certification committee, the researchers, the certification element and the RA element. Conclusion. Through the proposed descriptive model of web-based RA platform and its further development in modern software environments, the functionality of the system can be realized. The functionality of the system can change the way information is stored, make it easier for researchers to produce RA reports, and speed up the appraisal process.
