Investigation on the drug resistance and multi-drug resistance of nontyphoidal Salmonella isolates from pigs in Anhui.

2010
Objective To understand the drug susceptivity of nontyphoidal Salmonella isolates from pigs in Anhui and evaluate the spectrum of their multi-drug resistance. Method The sensitivity of 100 nontyphoidal Salmonella isolates to 14 antibiotics were determined by K-B method. Result Among the 100 nontyphoidal Salmonella isolates, the overall resistance rate to 14 antibiotics was 72%,in which the resistance rates to 14 antibiotics of serogroup B,serogroup E1,serogroup E4 and serogroup F were 82.35%,44.44%,84.62% and 100% respectively. Fifty-two out of the seventy-two nontyphoidal Salmonella strains exhibited resistance to at least three antimicrobials. The multi-drug resistance rates of serogroup B,serogroup E1,serogroup E4 and serogroup F were 64.29%,75%,45.45% and 100% respectively. The highest frequency of resistance was the frequency of resistance to multiple antimicrobials, including Doxycycline ,Tetracycline,Chloromycetin and Kanamycin. Conclusion The multi-drug resistance is very common among the nontyphoidal Salmonella isolates from pigs in Anhui. The unreasonable use of antimicrobials is severe in domestic livestock. It is necessary to enhance the management of reasonable antimicrobial agents use and the supervision of food hygiene.
