COST, RETURN ANALYSIS AND CONSTRAINTS IN LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION AND MARKETING IN HAI DUONG, VIETNAM

2013
The study, using the survey data from 145 livestock production households, showed that livestock contributed significant parts to the households' income. Given a production unit, the high investment in inputs and the considerable experience in production and marketing created higher income for the livestock - based group than that for the non livestock - based group. However, the farmers perceived some constraints relating to both producti on and marketing. The result from the Garrett's ranking technique presented the ranking position of constraints, respectively included the livestock disease, the limited credit access, the high and rapid increase in feed price, the high volatility of outpu t price, and the insufficiency of market information and weak bargaining power.
