Botulinum toxin A acts by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine (Ach) at the neuromuscular junction. This effect has been utilised for the treatment of glabellar lines, primary hyperhidrosis of the axillae, focal spasticity, strabismus, blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm.
