Human antibody binding to human TNFα

1997
(57) Abstract A human antibody, preferably a recombinant human antibody, that specifically binds to human tumor necrosis factor α (hTNFα) is disclosed. These antibodies have a high affinity for hTNFα (eg, K d = 10 −8 M or less), a slow dissociation rate for hTNFα dissociation (eg, K Off = 10 −3 s −1 or less) and have hTNFα activity. Neutralize in vitro and in vivo. The antibodies of the invention may be full length antibodies or antigen binding portions thereof. The antibodies or antibody portions of the invention are useful for detecting hTNFα and inhibiting hTNFα activity, for example, in human patients suffering from diseases in which hTNFα activity is detrimental. Nucleic acids, vectors and host cells for expressing the recombinant human antibodies of the present invention, and methods for synthesizing these recombinant human antibodies are also encompassed by the present invention.
