As Internações por Condições Sensíveis à Atenção Primária de um município do interior de Minas Gerais, Brasil

Objective: to characterize hospitalizations for conditions sensitive to primary care in a city in the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Method: cross-sectional, descriptive study, with collection of secondary data from medical records, coming from hospital admissions. A collection form was elaborated in three blocks: sociodemographic; related to anamnesis; and related to hospitalization. The absolute and relative frequencies of the variables and the use of the Pearson's Chi-square and Fisher's Exact, considering the level of significance of 5% were performed. Results: 663 records were identified, with a predominance of patients ≥ 60 years old (70.7%), female (54.1%), brown / black and race (69.5%), and no record of presence or absence of factors of risk (28.5%). Diagnosis of vascular accidents and congestive heart failure were predominant, with 13.3%, pneumonia (11.0%), angina (9.5%) and chronic obstructive Broncho pulmonary disease (8.3%). Among the 45 cases (6.8%) of death, 19 (42.2%) were patients who did not belong to the area covered by the Family Health Strategy team of the municipality. Conclusion: The results will contribute to the adequacy and qualification of health services management and better planning of the care provided, as well as the definition of performance indicators for the region's primary health care so that rates of avoidable hospitalizations can be controlled and reduced.
