Correlação entre qualidade de vida e distúrbios osteomusculares relacionados ao trabalho em mineiros

2016
OBJECTIVE: To verify the existence of correlation between quality of life and musculoskeletal disorders in the informal miner worker of the Serido region of the state of Paraiba. METHODS: Participated in the study 371 informal workers, who answered a Demographic and Bio-socio-economic Questionnaire, the Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) and the Nordic Questionnaire of Musculoskeletal Symptoms, the data analysis included descriptive and inferential statistical methods (significance level of 5,00%). RESULTS: The majority of the labor force was composed of male workers (93,00%), with average age of 36,56 years old. Among the domains of quality of life, the functional capacity presented highest score (92,03 points) and the vitality the lowest (69,26 points). The most evident musculoskeletal disorders were related to the lumbar region with an average of 0,70±0,95 points. Considering the relations between quality of life and musculoskeletal disorders, it was found that all the domains presented in a greater or lesser degree, significant correlations with at least two of the analyzed corporal segments. However, the domains linked to the physical aspects (functional capacity, physical aspects limitations and pain) presented significant and negative correlations with all the regions of musculoskeletal disorders assessed (variations between ρ=-0,36; p<0,01 at ρ=-0,13; p<0,01). CONCLUSIONS: A significant negative correlation was observed between the domains of quality of life and musculoskeletal symptoms, in which the musculoskeletal symptoms were factors which reduce the quality of life of the informal mining workers.
