JGZ richtlijn opvoedingsondersteuning

2013
A guideline for supporting parents in mild parenting problems in the Youth Health Care in the Netherlands This guideline describes evidence- and practice-based approaches and programs for prevention, observation, screening and interventions in the Dutch Youth Health Care. The guideline focuses on: 1) Parents’ questions about parenting and the development of their child; 2) (Anticipating) information about parenting and child development that can be provided by Youth Health Care workers to parents; 3) How Youth Health Care workers can deal with signals of dysfunctional parenting, parent-child difficulties, behavioral, emotional, and developmental problems in children; 4) Information, advice and (light) interventions and referring children, youngsters and parents to behavioral scientists and other caregivers working within the ‘Center for Youth and Family’ or elsewhere. Dutch Youth Health Care professionals adopt an ‘demand based’ approach; every interaction starts from the parental perspective. The healthcare worker empowers parents in their parenting role whenever possible. Advice and information should be acceptable for parents, fit to their expectations, needs and those of their child as well as their own parenting views. The guideline comprises an evidence and consensus based approach for Youth Health Care professionals to support parents in parenting skills.
