A novel inertia identification method for speed control of electric machine
1996
In most servomotor drive applications, a precise speed control is required irrespective of load variations and frequent speed changes. To achieve high performance speed control with better transient characteristics. It is necessary to consider the moment of inertia of the system in determining the controller gains. This paper presents a new technique of the inertia identification using an extended Kalman filter which is an optimal full order estimator of a nonlinear system. An inertia term of the disturbance observer and controller gains are readjusted by this identification technique. The validity and effectiveness of this method are confirmed by experimental results on a PM synchronous motor.
