Aim: Stress-related gastrointestinal symptoms are common all over the world and affect health and quality of life negatively. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between stress levels and gastrointestinal symptoms and factors affecting the future anxiety of post-graduation youth, especially formation students. Method: The universe of this descriptive epidemiological study consisted of 430 students who received formation education in a university in 2017-2018 Fall semester. In the study aimed to reach the whole universe, 278 students were reached (64.6%). In the data collection tool, some sociodemographic characteristics of the participants, Perceived Stress Scale-PSS and Gastrointestinal Symptoms Questionnaire-GSQ were included. The collected data was evaluated by using SPSS 20.0. Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test were used to compare the groups and descriptive statistics for variables. Findings: % 57.2 of the participants were women. %55.4 of participants were 22 years and under and %78.7 of participants said which have a future anxiety. 56.8% of the youth said good that theirs health status. 94.9% of the youth participants stated that they experienced GI symptoms at least once in the last 3 months. 90.2% of the participants stated at least one of who had the symptoms of upper dysmotility, 78.7% had intestinal symptoms and 78.0% had esophageal symptoms. GI symptoms were found to be more frequent in patients who were 22 years of age or younger, who expressed poor health and academic achievement, poor income level, and living with their families (p <0.05). Stress perception was higher in women 22 years of age and younger, and in future anxiety, poor health, low income, and no physical activity (p <0.05). Conclusion: Gastrointestinal symptoms were observed in the majority of the participants. There was a relationship between perceived stress and gastrointestinal symptoms that increased the incidence of diseases. As the perceived stress level increases, gastrointestinal symptoms increase.
