Design and Control of an Electric Vehicle Equipped with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine

Nowadays the electric vehicle (EV) is the most promoted solution proposed by automakers and research organizations to replace conventional vehicles. This paper contains primarily a study of the dynamic behavior of the EV, as well as the modeling of the permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) that propels the vehicle. This motorization in powered by a three-phase voltage inverter controlled by the pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique. The objective assigned to this work is to design vector field-oriented control with an integral proportional regulator to ensure proper operating of the vehicle and improve its performance in terms of stability, speed and precision. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is illustrated by numerical simulation results under MATLAB/Simulink.
