Polyoxometalate-induced different metal–organic frameworks based on isonicotinic acid and Ag I ion: Syntheses, structures and properties

2017
Abstract Two polyoxometalate (POM)-based metal–organic frameworks (POMOFs) [Ag 12 (INA) 8 (VW 11 VI W V O 40 )(H 2 O) 2 ]·VO 2 ( 1 ), {[Ag 5 (INA) 5 (HINA)][H 3 PMo 12 O 40 ](H 2 O)}·H 2 O ( 2 ) (HINA = isonicotinic acid) have been successfully synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, IR spectra, and powder X-ray diffraction analyses. In 1 , the starting reagent [PW 12 O 40 ] 3 − was converted into [VW 11 VI W V O 40 ] 4 − in the presence of NH 4 VO 3 . Complex 1 exhibits a 3D metal-organic framework constructed from [VW 11 VI W V O 40 ] 4 − -based 2D inorganic layers and 1D [Ag 3 (INA) 2 ] n chains. Interestingly, a discrete 1D [Ag 3 (INA) 2 ] n chain and VO 2 molecule alternately distribute in the channels of the POMOF. When [PMo 12 O 40 ] 3 − was used instead of [PW 12 O 40 ] 3 − , 2 shows a 3D architecture based on 1D fishbone-like [Ag 5 (INA) 5 (HINA)] n metal-organic chains and [PMo 12 O 40 ] 3 − anions. The electrochemical and photocatalytic properties of the title complexes have been reported.
