LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY AND PURIFICATION OF DENTAL MONOMERS

Preparative scale, normal phase liquid chromatography has been used to purify the major components of three dental monomers, Araldite GY281, BisGMA, and CyacureTM UVR-6105. A silica column and a mobile phase consisting of a mixture of CH2Cl2 and ethyl acetate were used. Reverse phase HPLC with UV detection and proton NMR were used to analyze the raw materials and the purified compounds. The purified materials are being used in toxicology testing and metabolic studies.
