Clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of Her-2 expression in axillary lymph node-negative breast cancer patients

2012
Objective To investigate the correlation of Her-2 expression with the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of axillary lymph node-negative breast cancer patients. Methods The clinical data of 278 patients with axillary lymph node-negative breast cancer between 2003 and 2009 admitted in the third affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou University were collected. The clinicopathological characteristics, distant metastasis and survival information were retrospectively analyzed, and then the prognostic influencing factors of breast cancer were further investigated. Results Among the 278 patients with axillary lymph node-negative breast cancer, the level of Her-2 expression was significantly correlated with tumor size, estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor expression levels (P < 0.05).Morever,the menopausal status, tumor size, and the expressions of ER and PR were significantly correlated with five-years disease-free survival rate and five-years overall survival rate (P <0.05).Conclusions ER and PR can serve as important indicator of the long-term survival state of patients with breast cancer, and provide reference for making therapy.
