The Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Obturator Hernia in 13 Cases

Objective Toinvestigate the diagnosis ofobturator hernia.Methods The clinical features of 13 cases with obturator hernia admitted from 2000 to 2009 at Kunming Yan'an hospital were analyzed retrospectively.Results All cases were old emaciated women.Preoperative CT examination found intestine-like filler between lateral obturator muscle and pectineus muscle.All cases were given admission diagnosis and received operation within 8 hours.Surgery confirmed that 11 cases of obturator hernia were in the right,and other 2 cases were in the left.All contents were intestinal hernia,4 with incarceration and necrosis.All patients were discharged from hospital with no major complications occurred.Conclusion Obturator hernia mostly occurs in the old skinny women.Preoperative CT examination can confirm the diagnosis.Early diagnosis and surgery is the key to improve the rate of cure.
