Upgrading software and systems is seldom a painless process, and in a company with the size and technology of British Aerospace, it requires careful management. The author reports on a year-long improvement programme at the company's Brough site. The system under consideration is responsible for product development, including NC programming, and has reduced greatly the re-work required per part.
