Aspect of Functional Linguistics

Contemporary linguistic studies can be divided into two types: formalism and functionalism. This essay makes a survey on the functionalism's theory towards language, its focus, approach, basic conception , functional explanation and its limitation. At the end of this essay, the author takes a brief review on systematic functional grammar which has a great influence on the linguistic research in China.
