The magnetic circular dichroism in angular dependence study of Tb(0001) films

2002
Summary form only given. An effect of the magnetic circular dichroism in angular dependence (MCDAD) on the surface magnetism of the Tb(0001) films grown on W[110] has been analysed. Many of the rare-earth metals possess exotic magnetic structures. Tb was chosen for MCDAD experiments because this metal possesses helical magnetic structure, where the magnetisation rotates from one crystal plane to next. The existence of this phase for Tb is 220 K 230 K. Tb(0001) exhibits ferromagnetism at T/sub C/ = 220 K.
