USING GOOGLE DOCS ON COLLABORATIVE WRITING TECHNIQUE FOR TEACHING ENGLISH TO NON- ENGLISH DEPARTMENT STUDENTS

This study was aimed to discover the acceptance and the perceptions of non-English Department Students on Google Docs and the as the new learning innovation for collaborative writing in English course. This descriptive qualitative study was analyzed Google Docs as one of the new tool in technologies for a challenge of the collaborative writing skills to the students. The subjects of study were 39 of non-English Department students. The instruments used were questionnaire and interviews. The result showed all participants agree that the feedback and editing from peers in group of Google Docs were useful in improving their writing skill. The students perceptions in collaborative writing by using of Google Docs to non-English Department has numerous affective benefits such as can enhance their interest in learning English, utilize a range social skills that help communication in the technological environment among the group, lower the anxiety associated with completing writing assignment alone, and raise their confident in mastering English to their career readiness. The conclusion is Google Docs is an acceptable tool for learning innovation for collaborative writing tool as the learning innovation for collaborative writing to Non English Department Students. The strongly suggestions, the institution of higher education can incorporate Google Docs into syllabus and curriculum in implementing online and blended materials and supports by providing the ICT’s (Information, Communication and Technology) learning equipment sufficiently.
