A Comparative Study of In-Car HMI Interaction Modes Based on User Experience

2021
Human Machine Interface (HMI) is the medium of interaction between user and vehicle, and its usability is affected by many factors such as human, automobile and environment. With the development of science and technology, the human-computer interaction mode of automobile has changed. In order to improve the user experience and operational efficiency, this paper compares three modes of human-computer interaction in the vehicle: digital interaction, physical interaction and voice interaction mode, and analyze the characteristics and advantages and disadvantages of the three interactive modes by experiments and interviews. The research found that users need longer time to finish tasks by voice interaction mode, and a short time to use physical interaction mode. From the perspective of user satisfaction, people prefer to use voice interaction mode, but also need the cooperation of digital interaction and physical interaction mode, so as to improve the user’s operation efficiency and ensure the safety of driving.
