Super-sensitive hydroacoustic antenna based on fiber-optic hydrophones using multi-element receivers

2016
FIELD: radio engineering, communication. SUBSTANCE: antenna consists of two parts: an off-shore part and an underwater part comprising a series-connected laser, a fiber-optic radiation splitter 1N× - on N channels, dividing the energy of radiation in equal parts by hydrophones, where N is the number of hydrophones in the antenna. Each hydrophone consists of a fiber-optic splitter 1×2, which divides the radiation in half in an equal proportion into the fibers of the support and sensitive arms of the interferometer, wound each on its cores. The support arm fiber is wound on a solid core not subject to changes under external acoustic pressure, and the sensitive arm fiber is wound onto an elastic core, further amplifying the external acoustic pressure on its fiber for greater sensitivity. The end of each fiber of the support and sensitive arms of the interferometer is equipped with collimators. Their output collimated beams fall on the summing semipermanent plate. The total radiation is recorded by a multi-element hydrophone receiver. The output signals of the N hydrophones are input to a time multiplexing device. EFFECT: increasing the sensor sensitivity. 2 dwg
