Study of the angular distribution of heavy fragments produced in the interaction of 58 GeV 16O ions with a 1 cm thick Cu-target

Abstract The angular distribution of heavy fragments produced in the interaction of 58 GeV 16 O ions within a 1 cm thick Cu target has been studied using CR-39 plastic track detectors. Similar studies using the same experimental set-up and 72 GeV 40 Ar ions have been published previously. We observed also in this experiment (58 GeV 16 O), that (0.13 ± 0.07) % of the total number of primary 16 O ions are emitted into a forward angle 3°
