Molluscum contagiosum is a viral skin disease, most frequently affecting children and sexually active or immunocompromised adults. In immunocompetent people skin lesions are self-limiting and non-intervention strategy is usually advised. In immunocompromised people, on the other hand, the clinical picture might be different, lesions are multiple and bigger in diameter, often of atypical presentation, they are more persistent and frequently difficulties considering treatment occur. In adults with diagnosed molluscum contagiosum it seems reasonable to perform an HIV test.
