Congenital Pigment Formation-Reply

In Reply.— Occasionally I see a child who has a puzzling cutaneous pigment pattern in the shape of a deer track overlying the sternum; in July, theArchivespublished a clear photograph of such a pattern. Now we are indebted to Professor Dupre for comments that may solve the puzzle. His letter advises that the outlines of these deer tracks may be classified as pigmentary demarcation lines. The references show that demarcation lines have been described and studied since 1913, and that a creditable embryologic explanation for them is being considered. We are grateful for this information.
