Determine Al in hydrogen storage alloy by chrome azurol S spectrophotometry

2010
Chrome azurol S spectrophotometry was used to determine aluminum(Al) in hydrogen storage alloy. The absorption maxima lay at 548 nm and its apparent molar absorptivity was 5.24×104 L/(mol·cm). There was a good linear relation within the Al content of 0~0.3 μg/ml. When drawing the standard curve, close amount of nickel(Ni) to the sample was added to eliminate the interference of Ni. The method was simple, rapid, accurate and high precision, the satisfactory results was achieved when this method was used to determine the content of Al of hydrogen storage alloys, the RSD was less than 1.4%,the recovery was 98%~102%.
