BELL'S PALSY-Reply

1972
The criticisms of Drs. Levy and Donaldson are most appreciated. Whether or not there is a predisposition of pregnant women for Bell's palsy is a question that can only be answered with a study like the one proposed by Dr. Levy. As our paper was developed, we realized that our statistics were woefully inadequate from a statistician's point of view. Our suggestion that the two conditions might be related was made in the weakest possible terms for this reason. Dr. Donaldson's objection to our comparison of unlike populations is well taken. It is hoped that our report will stimulate others to study Bell's palsy and pregnancy in other institutions in order to clarify the issue at a future date.
