Temperature Field Simulation of Transformer Based on COMSOL Multiphysics

The operating condition of the transformer is very important to the stability of the power supply of the power grid, and its failure has a great impact on the transmission and transformation system. Among them, abnormal winding temperature is one of the main causes of transformer failure. This paper introduces the research history and current status of the transformer temperature field; introduces and compares three commonly used research methods; and introduces the thermodynamic knowledge involved in studying the transformer temperature field. The temperature field of the transformer is simulated by COMSOL Multiphysics software to analyze the temperature distribution law. The analysis results show that the model successfully simulates the distribution of transformer temperature field. The feasibility and accuracy of using COMSOL Multiphysics to simulate the transformer temperature field are confirmed.
