Effect of Trace Ti on Microstructure and Properties of As-cast Mg Alloy

The effects of trace Ti on the microstructure and mechanical property of AZ102 alloy were investigated.The distribution of Ti was analyzed by EDS.The results show that Ti mainly distributes between α-Mg and β-Mg17Al12,the microstructure and grain size of as-cast alloy is remarkably refined with the increase of Ti content when the content of Ti increases from 0.1% to 0.4%(mass fraction).So the tensile strength of the alloy can reach 232.7 MPa.
