Distribution of Three Bactericidal Proteins mRNA in Rat Genital System

OBJECTIVE To investigate the existence of bactericidal/permeability increasing protein(BPI),β-defensins-1 and platelet phospholipase A2(PLA2)mRNA in normal rat genital system,for providing important information about anti-bactericidal protein in clinical application.METHODS The total RNA was extracted from organs and tissues homogenates.Then the first-strand cDNA was synthesized and BPI or β-defensins-1 or PLA2 DNA was amplified by PCR.RESULTS BPI,β-defensins-1 and PLA2 mRNA were found in testis,epididymis and ovary from 7 various genital organs and tissues.Among them,BPI mRNA of testis,β-defensins-1 mRNA of epididymis and PLA2 mRNA of ovsary were rather aboundant.Moreover,β-defensins-1 and PLA2 mRNA were also found in prostatic gland,uterus and vsagina.CONCLUSIONS BPI,β-defensins-1 and PLA2 mRNA are present in many organs and tissues of rat genital system,which indicate that anti-bactericidal proteins take important part in host defense against bacterial infection.
