Determination of N,N-dimethylformamide in air by capillary gas chromatography.

Objective To develop the capillary gas chromatographic analytical method for determination of N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) in the air. Methods DMF in the air was collected by activated carbon tube,desorbed by methanol,separated by capillary column and analyzed by gas chromatography-flame ionization detector(GC-FID) . Retention time was used for qualitative analysis and internal standard method for quantitative analysis. Results The linear range of DMF concentration was 0.01-8.0 μg/μl(r 0.999) . The limit of detection was 4.0 ×10-4 μg. The relative standard deviation was 0.9%-7.5% and the desorption efficiency of DMF was 86.5%-94.0%. Conclusion The method is applicable to the determination of DMF in the air.
