Strategic staffing practices and organizational performance: A study of Indian machine tool SMEs.

Right people at the right time at the right place in SMEs as in any organisation is one of the most crucial success parameters. In India, the micro or small organizations of machine tool are very vital for the competitiveness of whole Industry. However, staffing practices are no always considered the top priorities of SME sector. People pay an important role in performance of the organization, and must start with getting good people first” and that is the first step to improve an organizations performance. This paper suggests that there is a positive co-relation between staffing practices in SME with organizational performance. Using a data set of 34 machine tool SMEs in India, paper compares the staffing practices in well performing SMEs with that of underperforming SMEs.
