Estudo sobre a utilização de Resíduo de Minério de Ferro em microrrevestimento asfáltico

2018
This paper presents the results of the physical and mechanical characterization of stone aggregates and waste from the iron ore processing in the city of Mariana/MG, and the physical and mechanical characterization of cold-mix micro-surfacing, considering the incorporation of the iron waste as small aggregate, taking as reference the current technical standards. This type of coating is applied on roads with high traffic volumes, which, during maintenance, require the immediate release of the roads. The use of this residue in cold-mix micro-surfacing is important from an environmental point of view, it reduces the environmental liabilities of tailings dams and enables the use of alternative materials, adding to the pavement satisfactory mechanical performance and reduction of costs with inputs. The chemical and environmental analysis of the residue showed that it is classified as non-hazardous and inert. The mechanical behavior of cold-mix micro-surfacing test specimens containing aggregates of the iron residue showed that the results obtained are compatible with the literature, as well as, they showed to perform similarly to the usual aggregates, indicating that it is a material with promising use in this type of technique of paving.
