Many researchers have studied additional damping systems to maximize their effectiveness in the tuned liquid column damper(TLCD). There are several additional damping systems such as damping nets, orifices, and the use of highly viscous liquids. In this study, the damping ratio of TLCD with embossments was experimentally evaluated comparing with the one with no embossments. To verify the damping effect of TLCD with embossments, sine sweep vibration test was conducted and damping ratio was evaluated by the half power bandwidth method from the frequency response curve. The test parameters were embossment, effective length of TLCD, and non-dimensional forced amplitude ratio (D/L). According to the test results, the damping ratio of TLCD with embossments increased up to 2.07% comparing with the one with no embossments. The standard deviation of damping ratio according to the change in the effective length ranged from 0.161% to 0.825%. As non-dimensional forced amplitude ratio increased, the damping ratio of TLCD with embossments increased.
