A review of 28 years of treating advanced ovarian cancer.

1993
: The treatment of advanced ovarian cancer at the Women's Clinic of the University of Pecs, Hungary, during 1962-1989 is described in a historical review. The results of 82 patients treated with cyclophosphamide (C), 83 patients treated with non-cisplatin (CMV or CAV) and 41 patients treated with a cisplatin (CAP) combinations were compared. Progression-free survival was better with the CMV or CAV than with C. CAP was associated with significantly better remission rates, survival and progression-free survival than the other treatments. Analysis supports the prognostic importance of post-surgical residual tumour size. Consolidation radiotherapy and maintenance or second line chemotherapy are recommended.
