Photoionization study of the F2+ ion via the screening constant by unit nuclear charge method

2014
Abstract In this paper, we have tabulated energy resonances of the 2s 2 2p 2 ( 1 D) n d ( 2 L), 2s 2 2p 2 ( 1 S) n d ( 2 L) and 2s 2 2p 3 ( 3 D) n p Rydberg series originating from the 2s 2 2p 3 ( 2 P o ) and from the 2s 2 2p 3 ( 2 D o ) metastable states of F 2+ . In addition, energy resonances of the 2s2p 3 ( 5 S o ) n p ( 4 P) Rydberg series originating from the 2s 2 2p 3 ( 4 S o ) ground-state of F 2+ are also reported. Calculations are performed using the Screening constant by unit nuclear charge (SCUNC) method. Analysis of the present data is achieved by calculating the quantum defects and the effective nuclear charges for each series. The present results agree very well with the Advanced Light Source experiments on F 2+ ( Aguilar et al., 2005 ). Upto n =30, the present quantum defects are almost constant and the effective charge decreases regularly toward the electric charge of the F 3+ core ion along each series.
