Complications Related to Lasers and Energy-Based Devices
2020
Lasers (ablative and nonablative) and energy-based devices used in skin resurfacing and rejuvenating the periocular area may provide an excellent rehabilitative effect, but have been associated with specific complications. For example, the Er:YAG, nonablative lasers, intense pulsed light, radiofrequency, plasma resurfacing, and microfocused ultrasound have specific morbidity that should be recognized. The present work discusses complications including scar, infection, ectropion, pigmentary changes, dermatitis, acne, milia, and ocular injury, among others.
