Rules for Identification of Amplified Spontaneous Emission at 46.9 NM in Argon Filled Capillaries

Summary form only given. Argon-filled pulsed high-current capillary discharge turned to be available soft X-ray laser. This fact attracts other laboratories to repeat these experiments as a start-up for their own applications or further research. However, the capillary discharge experiment is a multi-parametric system depending among others on capillary radius, wall material, filling pressure, filling dynamics, pre-pulse current, capillary main current and main current rise-rate, capillary mouth geometry, etc. At some parameters its behavior can resemble the expected amplified spontaneous emission. On one side such cases feed the hope for success, on the other side they may cause a significant delay. The present paper discusses these cases and offers some indicators pointing out that the desired regime with amplified spontaneous emission has not yet been reached. Simultaneously, indicators proving amplified spontaneous emission will be also provided
