The embodiment of the invention, which relates to the liquid crystal display field, provides a backlight control method and apparatus, and a liquid crystal display apparatus. With the method and the apparatuses, different picture quality enhancement demands at different display areas of the liquid crystal screen can be satisfied and the display quality and the display layering effect of the picture are improved. The method comprises: n backlight subareas that are divided in advance are divided into m backlight regions; an average backlight value of each of the m backlight regions is obtained; a gain value corresponding to the average backlight value of each of the m backlight regions is searched in a gain lookup table that is obtained in advance; according to the corresponding gain value of each backlight region, a backlight value, contained by each region, of the backlight subarea is adjusted; and the adjusted backlight values of the n backlight subareas are outputted. According to the invention, the backlight control method and apparatus are suitable for a backlight adjustment scene.
