Formación ética en las carreras de grado de Psicología (Universidad Nacional de La Plata)

2019
This paper presents the project initiated this year on the perspectives of recent teachers and psychologists graduated from the School of Psychology, Universidad Nacional de la Plata (UNLP, 2019-2022) in relation to the presence and incidence of knowledge related to ethics and deontology, both in their training studies and in professional performance. The purpose is to appreciate how teaching-learning processes in higher education are articulated with professional practices carried out by recent graduates. The situation status and conceptual framework will be presented as well as the methodological procedures designed for its approach. The complexity of the subject deserves to consider different interrelated fields of analysis: the current state of the discipline, the problem of training in the University context, the accreditation of Psychology degrees for the fact of being included among those considered of public interest and its regulation by the State, the professional practice of the psychologist and the teacher of Psychology in all its fields of application. Several general and specific aspects are included: (1) the presence of Professional Ethics in University education; (2) ethics in training and acting in psychology; (3) research carried out on psychology, ethics and training in the country; and, finally, (4) ethical training in the School of Psychology (UNLP). Treatment of the ethical-procedural in Psychology has been moving towards a slope of greater deontological weight, according to the prevailing principled bioethical model. This normative side has been complemented with emerging visions that highlight the importance of deliberate and prudent deliberation in the performance of the professional role over other individuals. Professional practice is thus linked with different levels of commitment: a general one referring to his or her status as a citizen within the frame of philosophy of human rights; another, individual level as a professional acting in various fields (health, education, among them); and a specific level related to what is prescribed within the peer community. Our discipline has been including these levels of commitment in Psychology degrees and in their basic curricular content in University education. It is argued that "the professional practice in each and every one of the areas requires ethical training, social and civic responsibility and professional training in the framework of continuing education" (AUAPsi, 2007: 4) Our research proposal places the problem regarding the scope of the formal incorporation of contents of the area of Ethics and Professional Deontology in the curricula and the effective appropriation of them by professors and University graduates in Psychology (UNLP). Therefore, the main questions that guide our inquiry are: What do teachers and graduates from the Psychology Teacher and Psychologist degrees of the School of Psychology (UNLP) think about the inclusion of content related to the ethical and professional ethics area in the respective subjects?, Which were the teaching and learning experiences in academic training where the contents of ethics and professional deontology were transmitted?, What implications does the inclusion and development of these contents have in the teaching processes and learning in their studies?, What is the impact generated by the inclusion of these contents in the professional practices of teachers in Psychology and psychologists?. How do the Psychology teacher and the psychologist appropriate the ethical-procedural content received during his or her training in the performance of their role? The field design is qualitative, flexible and exploratory-descriptive. Different intentional samples are worked from a methodological triangulation of two techniques (semi-open questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview). The information that University professors and graduates could offer us becomes relevant for the understanding of the situation of Ethics in the undergraduate training and in the work environment from the expression of the individuals themselves in context. As it is a local study, the knowledge obtained will allow us to contribute to the elaboration of an ethical-deontological profile of the recent graduate from the School of Psychology (UNLP), in accordance with a professional ethos of quality and current standards for the discipline.
