Analysis of fracture mechanics parameters for a surface cracked plate using a nonlinear line-spring boundary element method

Abstract In this paper a nonlinear line-spring boundary element method (LSBEM) is proposed and the associated theoretical analysis is described. Numerical estimates of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics parameters for a surface cracked plate are carried out to verify the proposed method. The solutions obtained by nonlinear LSBEM indicate that the proposed method is economic and suitable for implementation on a personal computer.
