Selection of target taxa

2000
The activities of conservationists will always be limited by the financial, temporal and technical resources available to them. Therefore they must prioritize and select the taxa they are to conserve. The implication of this, in terms of in situ genetic conservation, is that particular species and representative populations will be selected for protection in a genetic reserve or in traditional farming systems while others will not receive active protection.
