Implementation of A Wlan Technology as an Alternative for Radio Remote Broadcasting Methods

2007
Remote broadcast is the field of broadcast engineering which deals with the broadcasting from a far location to the regular studio. A remote pickup unit and telephone lines are usually used to transmit audio to the studio, where it joins the normal airchain. This paper studies Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) technology to be used as an alternative method for radio remote broadcasting methods. In particular, three experimental tests have been carried out on both the proposed alternative and conventional methods. The results are compared in terms of coverage area, system cost and services. Thus, the WLAN technology has proved to be the best alternative for radio remote broadcasting.
