Image-based snow depth measuring method

2012
The invention discloses an image-based snow depth measuring method, comprising the following steps of: (1) acquiring a calibration rod image before snow is accumulated, and determining a proportional relationship between length of the calibration rod in the image and the actual length; (2) acquiring the calibration rod image after the snow is accumulated, and further obtaining a binarization image B(x,y) of the calibration rod image; (3) processing the B(x,y) to obtain a line y=F(x) on which the calibration rod is located, processing the binarization image B(x,y) according to the fact that each point in the image B(x,y) is an inner point or an outer point relative to the line y=F(x), so as to obtain the processed image L(x,y); (4) carrying out eight-communicating-domain marking on the L(x,y), counting the number N of pixels in each communicating domain, if N is less than a difference between the height of the image L(x,y) and the length of the image L(x,y), setting pixel value of each pixel in the communicating domain to be 255 from 0, so as to obtain the processed image F(x,y); (5) calculating length of upper section of the calibration rod exposed outside a snow cover; and (6) calculating depth of accumulated snow according to the proportional relationship in the step (1), thus snow depth is calculated. A measuring result obtained by the image-based snow depth measuring method disclosed by the invention has a small error range and high accuracy.
