The invention relates to a light control device (LSG) for providing an encoded image (kB) for transmitting (140) over a data transmission system (kB). The light control device (LSG) includes a first interface (SS1) for receiving (110) a first halftone image (RB1), an encoder (K) for converting (120) of the first halftone image (RB1) in the coded image (kB) and a second interface (SS2) for outputting (130) the coded image (kB) to the data transmission system (DB) to. The redundancy of the coded image (kB) is less than a redundancy of the first halftone image (RB1). Moreover, the invention relates to a light-source-on-site control device (FQ) with a decoder (D) for reconverting (160) an encoded image (kB) that was encoded according to the invention by means of a light control device (LSG). In addition, the invention relates both to a vehicle (FZ), having an inventive lighting control device (LSG) or an inventive light-source on-site controller (FQ), as well as a corresponding method (100) for driving a light source (LQ).
