Accurate and simple improved lookup table compensation for inverter dead time and nonlinearity compensation

2017
The inverter non-idealities are known to distort the inverter output voltage. This leads to harmonic oscillations in electrical drives current and torque resulting in unacceptable behaviour. This paper shed lights on the draw backs of some of the lookup table construction techniques based on startup DC test. Also, the paper proposes a new lookup table compensation technique that overcomes these drawbacks through offering improved accuracy and decreased commissioning and online execution complexity. The technique is characterised by its simplicity in both the commissioning phase and online execution not to mention its very good compensation accuracy. The technique is validated experimentally on a sensorless PMSM drive and compared to other well-known techniques in the literature.
