Transplant-Related Issues in the Gastrointestinal Tract
2021
In this chapter, clinical and histologic aspects relating to small bowel transplantation, including the diagnoses of acute cellular rejection, chronic rejection, antibody-mediated rejection, infections, and posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder, are covered. In addition to providing current diagnostic criteria and differential diagnoses for these entities, other common practical issues including an approach to evaluating small bowel biopsies for apoptotic bodies and evaluation of acute cellular rejection in transplanted stomach and colon are discussed. This chapter also reviews the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of graft-versus-host disease in the GI tract.
